Masaka HC Completes File Counting Exercise

MASAKA: Masaka High Court concluded the physical counting of files in the court registry beating a five day deadline it had initially set.
This is one of the exercises aimed at data cleaning and reorganizing court registries.
According to the Assistant Registrar, HW Dorothy Ssempala Lwanga, the information collected on the Data Collection Instrument is now being entered into the Court Case Administration System (CCAS).
The registry clean-up exercise is headed by the Chief Registrar, HW Esta Nambayo.
She is assisted by HW Tom Chemutai-Registrar High Court; HW Susan Abinyo-Registrar Data and Magistrate Affairs and Mr Andrew Khaukha-Judiciary Technical Advisor.
Speaking on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Masaka High Court, the CR commended Masaka for the dedication and zeal to finalize the file count. She commended the teamwork which enabled the Court to finalize the exercise.
"The purpose of the physical count is to get a clear picture of the data we have," adding that it was important for the court to maintain a clean record.
She said the data collected was going to be extracted and a report made for better allocation of resources.
The CR emphasized the need for Judicial Officers to rein in on their staff to ensure that data is regularly updated.
To clerical staff she counselled, "make time after court to update the court record."
She urged the Assistant Registrar to daily check the CCAS and manual registers to ensure that the records are updated.
